We’re Engaged…Now What?!

Source

…from Tisha

Ok, the new year is here and the dust has pretty much settled of the announcement of our engagement (sort of). Wahoo!!!  We still get the ‘Congrats!’ messages, but it’s finally starting to sink in…OMG, we-are-engaged. Ahhhhhhhh!!!!  Now what???

I wouldn’t trade this moment/feeling/decision for anything in the world, but just doing the research about planning a wedding can be QUITE overwhelming.  There are 7, 843, 333, 091.4 websites and blogs about wedding ideas, planning, schemes, & budgets.  And that’s just the first page in a Google search.

Now before you tell me to call a wedding planner, hear me out.  Regardless if we choose a planner or not, there are still so many options to choose from to make sure you get EXACTLY what you want.  Being that we don’t want to go to the cheap route and make an appointment with the Justice of the Peace, making sure this process comes out right the first time can make you feel the pressure.

I always knew one day my prince would come, but I have never been the planning-my-wedding-at-age-5 type.  Last year before meeting Joe, I don’t know what gave me the urge to do research about my dream wedding.  I just did it.  Doing that has cut down on a lot of wondering and confusion in this process.  Now that it’s truly official and not just a dream, I decided to get a wedding manual, complete with instructions, ideas, color schemes, budget sheets, etc. to help the transition go a bit smoother.  Having fun through this process is my number one goal.  As for books,  I got this one:

I’ve also been looking at websites like www.theknot.com, www.100layercake.com, and www.stylemepretty.com for inspiration and articles about what to do next, just to name a few.  They have been great, along with various lists and such of planning a year out before the big day.

For all the marrieds out there, any other advice????  :)
